Running Journal

March 29, 2026 Did the Fool's Run 5K right here in Kutztown. I was considering trying the 10 miler, but I felt horrible right when I first started training for longer distance. Same race three years ago I ran a 21:53, 14th place overall, and first in age group. That was actually my last race before a major surgery and my times have fallen off a cliff since. I told my wife I'd be happy to finish in the top 50 this time and, as it turned out, I got exactly 50th overall out of 166 people--third in my age group, so I got an award. My time was 25:09 (8:06 splits), which is basically what I run these days. Maybe under 24 by the end of the summer would be a nice goal. I'd like to do some longer races, as well.  September 13, 2025 Did the LVRR run on the 3rd. It was one of those staggered starts where you leave at your estimated time. I went out at 25 minutes and ended, I think, a little over (or possibly a little under) that time. Either way, a full minute faster than a year ago. ...
